Welcome to “Ten Months in Guangxi”

Hello, visitor! My name is Dan Andersen and this is the blog I maintained while living as an English teacher in southern China from September 2011 to July 2012. It details the time I spent in the cities of Liuzhou, Nanning, and Guilin, and the various ups and downs and arounds of my whirlwind life halfway around the world.

If you’d like to read my blog posts in eBook format, my good friend (and fellow teacher in Guilin) Jason Shepherd formatted my writings into a free download. You can get it at his Smashwords page.

  1. My name is Clarke. I’m an American, currently living and working in Beijing. I’m interested in possibly working and living in Nanning. Wanted to ask you a few questions.

Can’t find an email on your blog…

  2. Stumbled upon your blog while looking for info for GXNU for study abroad programs and had to laugh. I finished my service in the Peace Corps last year and this was a nice reminder of why Peace Corps is in South/West China. It’s a lot to handle! It’s important to let the good memories flood out the bad though and reminder that the perspective you bring is just different. :-D Good read!

  3. Hi Dan, thanks for your story, it’s a great, realistic description – I’m currently teaching in Gansu Province, but have friends in Nanning, so I was googling teaching options there. I’ve recommended your blog/ebook to my FB friends :-)
